Veeam is integrating AI agent trust features into its mature data trust capabilities to optimize data security and trust architecture for the AI era.
Veeam has accumulated solid data trust experience across two key stages: backup and recovery (1980–2017) and cyber-resilience (2017–2026), with its traditional solutions focusing on backup data protection. In the AI era, data trust must cover production data, while trusted mechanisms for AI agents and digital employees are critical to secure reliable AI operation environments.
The agentic AI era has arrived, yet industry-wide AI agent trust infrastructure remains immature. Veeam will integrate its acquired Securiti technology with existing data protection and cyber-resilience software to build a dedicated AI agent trust infrastructure.
As AI infrastructure deployment accelerates, enterprise data protection now extends from structured data to massive unstructured data volumes. Legacy data trust frameworks cater only to human access, while AI agents and digital employees operate at machine speed. Lacking dedicated evaluation and verification infrastructure, these high-frequency AI data access behaviors can cause severe, rapid-scale data damage with substantial risks.
To tackle these challenges, Veeam has built a Data and AI Trust Layer for AI stacks, delivering zero-trust agent capabilities for fine-grained, multi-domain governance over data, identity and AI operations. Embedded in data metadata, it enforces real-time, identity-based data access guardrails. Its AI Agent Identity Access Management (AIAM) proactively detects and remediates AI data access gaps and anomalies.
Veeam has also launched a unified Data and AI Command Platform. Its built-in DataAI Command Graph unifies security governance, compliance verification and privacy control into AI data resilience workflows, enabling enterprises to identify and eliminate DataAI risks efficiently.
AI agents enable 24/7 continuous monitoring of data privacy, compliance and access consent with complete audit records. Manual oversight is no longer viable given the massive scale of AI agent operations. For example, regulation-aware AI agents can fully automate end-to-end privacy management workflows.
Veeam’s upcoming v13.1 Data Platform strengthens core data protection and cyber-resilience via embedded AI upgrades, including intelligent admin assistance, enhanced data security and optimized resilience operations. A new MCP server allows mainstream chatbots to connect with Veeam backup data, delivering AI-powered threat response, audit insights, instant backup query answers, and an integrated intelligent security and protection experience.
Veeam acquired Securiti for $1.7 billion last October, obtaining graph-based Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) technology covering primary and secondary data. Securiti scans enterprise production data (including full AWS data estates) and maps assets via graph technology, enabling sensitive data location, ROT analysis, breach impact assessment, compliance verification, access control inspection, AI governance auditing and full data protection posture review.
